MUSIC TIPS FOR 2012

I am going to run down my top 10 tips for 2012. The one rule to be eligible for this list is that the artists featured cannot have released an album before the 1st January 2012.

10) Nina Nesbitt
Having toured with Example and Ed Sheeran at the back end of last year, 2012 could be a breakout year for the Edinburgh born singer/songwriter. She released her debut EP 'Live Takes' in December and this is just a short snippet of whats to come.



9) Sam Frank
Frequent Skream collaborator and excellent songwriter Sam Frank is looking to go it alone in 2012. His debut single 'Simple Life' was released on the 1st January and I one for one am looking forward to many more Talkbox tracks in 2012.

THE WEEKND - ECHOES OF SILENCE

The Weeknd come through with the third and final part of their mixtape series. The mixtape is titled 'Echoes of Silence' and you cam expect this to be a good listen. You can download the mixtape from here.

DRAKE - FROM TV TO TAKE CARE

 The transition from Film to Hip-Hop has not often been a successful path for many actors, however Drake seems to be the exception to this. Having started in the teen drama Degrassi growing up, Drake then decided to shift his attention to rapping. Having achieved a number one single with ‘Best I Ever Had’ as an independent artist Drake released his debut album ‘Thank Me Later’ to much critical acclaim and also a number one spot on the Billboard chart.

INTRODUCING THE WEEKND

Many of you may already be aware of Canadian native The Weeknd, but for those of you who don't heres your introduction. The Weeknd's sound (Abel Tesfaye) could be described as a sort of Electronic R&B and what I really like about the project are the abstract production with subtle touches throughout. Drake has been partly credited for generating public interest in The Weeknd by firstly tweeting one of their songs. The Weeknd also feature on four tracks off Drake's upcoming 'Take Care' album. They have so far released two mixtapes of a three part series, these are 'House of Baloons' and 'Thursday.' Below you can listen to 'Crew Love' taken of Drake's upcoming album featuring The Weeknd and also their track 'Initiation.'

 

THE WEEKND - INITIATION

New music from OVO's The Weeknd. Not sure what this track is for but sources are saying its for the follow up to the 'Thursday' mixtape. Regardless of what its for, its another great track from the duo.

THE WEEKND - THURSDAY

The Weeknd hit the internet by storm when they released their first mixtape 'House of Baloons.' This is the second mixtape in a series of three to be taken from him. You can download it from here and I will be reviewing both this and Wale's mixtape in the next few days.
