MUSIC TIPS FOR 2012

I am going to run down my top 10 tips for 2012. The one rule to be eligible for this list is that the artists featured cannot have released an album before the 1st January 2012.

10) Nina Nesbitt
Having toured with Example and Ed Sheeran at the back end of last year, 2012 could be a breakout year for the Edinburgh born singer/songwriter. She released her debut EP 'Live Takes' in December and this is just a short snippet of whats to come.

9) Sam Frank
Frequent Skream collaborator and excellent songwriter Sam Frank is looking to go it alone in 2012. His debut single 'Simple Life' was released on the 1st January and I one for one am looking forward to many more Talkbox tracks in 2012.

See the rest of the list after the jump.

8) Etta Bond
Etta was Labrinth's first signing to his Odd Child record label. A co-sign from one of the best up and coming UK producers can't be a bad start for any artist. Also featured on Wretch 32's latest single 'Forgiveness,' solo material can't be long in the offing.

7) Delilah
UK Soul singer Delilah had features on both Wretch 32 and Chase and Status' album in 2011. She also released two singles 'Go' and 'Love You So' last year. Delilah has one of the best voices in the UK at this moment in time and her debut album is due out in 2012.

6) AlunaGeorge
Made up of vocalist Aluna Francis and producer George Reid (hence the name,) I would describe AlunaGeorge as a mixture of R&B/Electronic music and the UK’s equivalent to The Weeknd. The duo release their debut single ‘You Know You Like’ last year and have been busy remixing for the likes of Lana Del Rey and others.

5) Lana Del Rey
Anyone that reads this blog will have learnt of my admiration for Lana Del Rey. With her debut album due at the end of this month, I think 2012 could be a very big year for the singer.

4) Two Inch Punch
You notice something new every time you listen to Two Inch Punch's productions/tracks, his melodies and production is next level. Having already received writing credits for his work with Lil Wayne and Little Boots as well as releasing his debut EP at the back end of last year, 2012 is all set up to be a big year for Two Inch Punch.

3) Childish Gambino
Surprisingly enough Gambino is the only rapper featured on this list. Gambino (Donald Glover) already has a success acting career (he stars in 30 Rock and Community,) he has switched his attention to music. What I like about him as a rapper is the energy in his music which many rappers don't seem to possess.

2) Jakwob
One of the UK's most talented up and coming producers, Jakwob burst onto the scene with his remixes of Ellie Goulding 'Under The Sheets' and 'Starry Eyed.' Jakwob has been recording his debut album over the last few months and is soon to release his single 'Electrify.'

1) The Weeknd
I don't think there can be any arguments with The Weeknd being at number one on this list. His three mixtape series 'House Of Balloons,' 'Thursday' and 'Echoes Of Silence' were very well received throughout the music industry. The question is, will there be an album in 2012?
