GARY SPEED - LEGEND, GENTLEMAN, HERO
I don't often write many posts about sport but I thought it would be wrong not to dedicate a post to the great man. As a Newcastle fan I hold Gary Speed in very high regard. He was a top quality footballer and excellent pro, you could never fault him for his efforts on the pitch. It's so sad to hear of somebody dying at such a young age, particularly a man with a family who must now be going through hell. I'm sure only he knows why he had to take his own life but although he may have now gone, he will never be forgotten.
RIP GARY SPEED!

INTRODUCING WORK DRUGS
Every other day we come across a new genre of music, whether its Nu rave, Brostep or anything else under the sun. It’s usually the press and not bands themselves that like to attach themselves to these new genres. However Philadelphia based Work Drugs have described their own music as ‘Smooth-Fi’ but how do you differentiate this from the ‘Chill-Wave’ scene that has been popularized by acts such as Washed Out and Toro Y Moi in the last few years?
Genre squabbles aside; Work Drugs make music that just gives you that feeling that your sitting on a beach in California ‘chilling out.’ The jangly guitar riffs and atmospheric pads work so well together to give you that summery feeling. I first came across their music when I was put onto their cover of Adele’s ‘Rolling In The Deep,’ it’s a completely different take on one of the biggest songs of the year. However, the duo definitely do it justice.
The bands debut album ‘Tropics of Capricorn’ showcases the their ability to create a solid body of work and I am very excited to see what the band has in the offing.
Below you can listen to their cover of Adele's 'Rolling In The Deep' as well as their original track 'Flying Zambo.'

THE ROOTS - SLEEP (VIDEO)
The Root's continue to put out new music and visuals. This track titled 'Sleep' and is taken from The Roots upcoming concept album 'Undun.' Here is the blurb for the album;
"undun is an existential re-telling of the short life of one Redford Stephens (1974-1999). Through the use of emotives and Redford's internal dialogues the album seeks to illustrate the intersection of free will and prescribed destiny as it plays out 'on the corner'. Utilizing a reverse narrative arc, the album begins as the listener finds Redford disoriented--postmortem--and attempting to make sense of his former life. As he moves through its pivotal moments he begins to deconstruct all that has led to his (and our own) coming undun."

INTRODUCING THE BLOODY BEETROOTS
I first came across The Bloody Beetroots from their remix of Timbaland and Keri Hilson's track 'Miscommunication.'The Bloody Beetroots is a project of Italian electronic producer 'Bob Cornelius Rifo.' Although I am not a big fan of dance music on the whole, their is something about his production that really resinates with me.
Since 2006, The Bloody Beetroots have released five E.P.'s and one album titled 'Romborama.' Rifo received some commercial success with the EP 'Cornelius' peaking in the Top 100 of the iTunes chart.
Below you can listen to The Bloody Beetroots remix of Timbaland's' Miscommunication as well as their new track 'Church Of Noise' featuring Dennis Lyxzen.

One of my favourite tracks of Joker's debut E.P. gets the remix treatment. The track features Ghetts, Lil Nasty and Shadz. I don't think this can top the original, but Ghetts has some good bars.

Who is this A.L.? I'm not too sure but this track speaks for itself. The track is called 'I'm A Boss' and is produced by the late J.Dilla. Expect an introducing on A.L. soon.

INTRODUCING LUCY ROSE
Lucy Rose is a signer/songwriter from Warwick with a beautiful voice in the vein of Laura Marling. I first became aware of Lucy Rose when she appeared singing backing vocals on Bombay Bicycle Club's (BBC) second album 'Flaws' and was interested in finding out more about the artist.
After completing her A-Level's at college, Lucy decided to move straight down to London to start gigging and attending open mic nights, this is what lead to her befriending BBC's Jack Steadman. Her first single 'Middle of The Bed' was released in July of this year and showcases her amazing voice and folk guitar style.
Although she is yet to release an album, she says that she has enough material to start the recording process.
Below you can listen to her first single 'Middle of The Bed' and also her track 'Place.'

INTRODUCING RUSTIE
When you think Rustie, you think Hudson Mohawke. Both artists are from Glasgow, both make glitched out electro Hip-Hop and both are affiliated to Warp Records.
Rustie released his debut EP 'Jagz The Smack' in 2007 to much critical acclaim. In the last 4 years he has released another five EP's leading up to the release of his 2011 debut album 'Glass Swords.' The Guardians Alex Macpherson had this to say of the album;
"Glass Swords is almost entirely composed of dancefloor highs, a series of those hands-in-the-air peak-time moments that stick in the memory long after the rest of the night has turned hazy."
The album has moments of sheer brilliance and many similarities to Hud Mo's previous releases. Below you can listen to 'Ultra Thizz' taken off the album and also his remix of Joker's 'On My Own.'

INTRODUCING LITTLE COMETS
Little Comets are a three piece indie band from Newcastle made up of Robert Coles (lead vocal and guitar,) Michael Coles (Lead Guitar and backing vocals) and Matt Hall (Bass and backing vocals.) I think the best way to describe them would be as jangly-indie-pop (I just love that jangly guitar sound.) The band were signed to Columbia records in 2009 and released their debut album 'In Search Of Elusive Little Comets' earlier this year.
A little fact about the band is that they are managed by former England defender Ugo Ehiogu (obviously a man who knows talent.) You can file them next to Two Door Cinema Club another band who do not have a drummer as an official member.
Below you can listen to their tracks 'Adultery' and 'One Night In October.'

REDLIGHT - GET OUT MY HEAD
New track from Redlight, first played on Annie Mac's show last Friday so excuse the quality as its a radio rip.
INTRODUCING RANDOM IMPULSE
Random Impulse is not your average UK Rapper. Not only does he rap, he also produces, plays guitar and writes for other artists. He's been around for a while releasing his first two mix-tapes in 2008 and has been steadily building a following ever since.
The thing that really draws me to him is his work ethic and creativity. His weekly 'Refix' series on Youtube see's him refixing a popular song weekly and to be brutally honest, some of the refixes he has created are even better that the originals.
Impulse's first single 'Overload' was released earlier this year and is a sign of things to come. You can listen to it below as well as his refix of DJ Fresh's 'Louder.'

INTRODUCING THE WEEKND
Many of you may already be aware of Canadian native The Weeknd, but for those of you who don't heres your introduction. The Weeknd's sound (Abel Tesfaye) could be described as a sort of Electronic R&B and what I really like about the project are the abstract production with subtle touches throughout. Drake has been partly credited for generating public interest in The Weeknd by firstly tweeting one of their songs. The Weeknd also feature on four tracks off Drake's upcoming 'Take Care' album. They have so far released two mixtapes of a three part series, these are 'House of Baloons' and 'Thursday.' Below you can listen to 'Crew Love' taken of Drake's upcoming album featuring The Weeknd and also their track 'Initiation.'

INTRODUCING TWO INCH PUNCH
Two Inch Punch self-titled LoveStep is different from any style of Music I've heard. He uses vocal samples mixed with an eclectic mix of production. With drums that could be compared to the likes of Flying Lotus and synths that make you want to start tweaking, Two Inch Punch is definitely on to something here.
His 'Love You Up' EP was released at the end of last month and is available to buy on the internet. Below you can listen to two of the tracks taken from his Soundcloud. These are 'Love You Up' and 'Up In Your Mix.'

I DIG YOUR SOLE MAN
Just discovered this Shoe blog and think its a quality idea. The blog aims to showcase trainers from people found on the streets, giving you a nice little back story of each individual that is featured. I recommend you check it out here. An on that note, these are what I'm currently wearing:
RSONIST - ANGELS (VIDEO)
Rsonist of production duo The Heatmakerz brings us his new track 'Angels.' The production on this is amazing.
THE ROOTS - TIP THE SCALE (VIDEO)
Follow up to the classic 'Make My,' the Roots bring us the video for 'Tip The Scale.' Every time I hear a Roots song I am always blown away by how crisp Questlove's drums are.

INTRODUCING SAM FRANK
Okay so I've decided to make the introducing series a daily thing, I will do my best to introduce you to artists that I have discovered and feel are worthy of blogging about.
Today I would like to introduce to you Sam Frank. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info around internet about this guy, all I can say is he's a wizard with a vocoder! He has frequently collaborated with Skream on tracks such as 'Where You Should Be' and Skream's new single 'Anticipate.' As well as this his solo tracks have been played by Annie Mac and Mistajam and are available to listen to on his soundcloud here.
Below you can watch the video for his new track with Skream 'Anticipate' as well as listening to his own new single 'Simple Life.'

A WEEK IN MUSIC - PAC DIV, COMMON, TINCHY, AMY WINEHOUSE AND GHETTO
Sorry that there hasn't been any posts for a bout a week, I have been away at my graduation and had no chance to get to a computer. I am gonna try and round up the best music to have been released this week.
First up we have the video for Pac Div's 'Still Flexin.' This ones got an old Neptunes Clipse sound to it.
Common released another track from his album 'The Dreamer, The Believer' titled Sweet.
Tinchy dropped his track 'Generation' on Twitter earlier in the week.
Tinchy Stryder - Generation by Takeover
The first release from Amy Winehouse's posthumous album is titled 'Like Smoke' and features Nas.
After his role in Channel 4's Top Boy, Ashley Walters is back with a new track titled 'All Falls Down.'
Final track from Kano and Mikey J's not for the A-List series, this one is titled 'House Of Pain' and features Ghetts. The production on this is really smooth.
